Choosing The Right Height For Your Wedding Shoes — Expert Tips!
Let’s be honest, the ceremony aisle is basically the equivalent of the real girl’s runway. With all eyes on you, you’re going to want to totally rock your bridal look — and a killer pair of heels to put the finishing touch on that perfectly fitting gown will do just the trick. But what if those dreamy 4-inch stilettos leave you towering over your husband-to-be? Should you throw caution to the wind and channel your inner Gisele? Or opt for a pair that is a little more, well, down-to-earth?

This is an incredibly common question, but there’s really no right or wrong answer. It all comes down to how comfortable you (and your partner to some extent) are with the idea. Can’t imagine walking down the aisle without at least a 3-inch pair of heels? Then go for it! But if you’re on the fence or the issue isn’t really up for debate, check out these tips from stylist Annie Cavallo of WellStyled Events.
Consider a smaller heel.
Sky-high heels aren’t your only option. “Consider a kitten heel, fabulous sandal or a sweet ballet flat,” says Cavallo. With so many choices, you definitely won’t have to compromise on style (even if you are giving up some height). Plus you’ll have no problems owning the dance floor for hours!
Look for a two-inch heel.
Look for a more modest alternative. “If you go with a heel, look for a two-inch one; it will still elongate your silhouette, but you won’t tower over your partner,” Cavallo says. Another option? Take your heels to a shoe repair shop, where they’ll be able to shave off up to 1 inch off the heel without affecting the construction of the shoe itself. While it may not seem like a lot, it could be just what you need to take them from too tall to just right.
Have him wear shoe lifts.
Just can’t part with those to-die for Jimmy Choo’s (we don’t blame you!)? Ask him to wear shoe lifts. “It gives a one to two inch boost and celebs do it all the time,” advises Cavallo. Shoe lifts are inserts that are placed right inside the shoe and instantly lift the heel. You can get them almost anywhere and they’re a relative inexpensive add-on.
