Best and Worst dressed at the MET Gala
The 2015 Costume Institute Gala, home of one of the year's most memorable red carpets, was held Monday night at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. With the theme "China: Through The Looking Glass," we were certainly expecting to see lots of red, embroidery and flowers, and the designers did not disappoint.
The red carpet was filled with crimson gowns -- from the simple and elegant to the over-the-top and extreme -- and Fashion's Biggest Night once again saw plenty of Hollywood's biggest stars. Many stayed true to the theme, donning stunning floral appliques or embroidery and traditional silhouettes, but as can always be expected at the Met Gala there were plenty who took it to the next level.
Rihanna stepped onto the carpet in a show-stopping gold robe with a matching headdress, and Kim Kardashian wore an icy sparkling gown with a feathered skirt. Beyonce made quite the appearance in a nearly-naked creation by Givenchy, out-shocking everyone everyone else who stepped on the carpet.
Two of our favorite red carpet style mavens, Sienna Miller and Diane Kruger, chose to forego gowns and as such were possibly two of our favorite looks of the night. With all this glamour, however, there is bound to be a few major fashion misses.
Worst: Miley Cyrus in Alexander Wang
It feels like we've seen this dress before -- a couple times -- from Miley. It also seems better suited to a "futuristic" theme!
Best: Sienna Miller in Thakoon
Sienna Miller always kills it on the red carpet, and tonight's look was no different. We're all about the fringed beading on her two-piece ensemble.
Best: Anne Hathaway in Ralph Lauren
The dress itself is well-made and the fabric looks like liquid gold, i also love the hood
Best: Poppy Delevingne in Marchesa
Poppy, wearing her namesake in a gown, is absolute perfection.
You Decide: Beyonce in Givenchy
Leave it to Beyonce to make an even bigger splash than Sarah Jessica Parker's headdress and Rihanna's HUGE golden robe. What do you think of her nearly-naked look?
Worst: Chloe Sevigny in JW Anderson
We found this look to be over the top in all the wrong ways.
Best: Allison Williams in Giambattista Valli
Williams is typically very "safe" on the red carpet, so we were thrilled to see her take a chance in this voluminous Giambattista Valli gown.
Wildest: Solange in Giles
There's no way to call this a "worst," it's just too cool and out-there! Not really sure how it fits in with tonight's theme, but she positively glitters.
Worst: Kris Jenner in Balmain
Jenner's look was just a little too much... of just about everything.
Best: Gigi Hadid in Diane von Furstenberg
Gigi looked gorgeous in this gown by DVF, a moment where we certainly feel that simplicity won out.
Best: Lizzy Caplan in Donna Karan
This gown draped so perfectly on Lizzy, she looked gorgeous
Worst: Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen
It's not that the twins look bad per se, we just are always hoping for something exciting from them, and this was not the night.
Best: Usher
Hello handsome! Usher was looking very dapper in his all-black suit, and even though he needed his cane to support his foot post-surgery, it certainly added to the look.
Best: Zendaya in Fausto Puglisi
This look probably isn't easy to maneuver in safely (forever afraid someone will step on your train!) but it's just stunning. Zendaya looks youthful yet elegant in this incredible creation
